Data-Driven Energy Management at its Best

The company has been admitted to the National Startup Registry (operated by Elevate Greece) for its innovative “Data-Driven” Energy Management Solution for local authorities, energy service companies, energy suppliers, facility managers, as well as building occupants. Elevate Greece provides an opportunity for Greek enterprises to be registered and certified as startups as long as they meet the criteria of innovation and scalability. “Using machine learning algorithms, prediction models are produced (e.g. energy production, energy consumption), and in combination with the real data, appropriate action plans are formulated for intelligent energy management at the building or city level,” says Georgia Polytanou, PR Manager at HOLISTIC.

The action plans refer to the intelligent energy management in buildings and facilities, taking into consideration their interaction with energy systems. For instance, by exploiting thermal comfort theory and feedback received from the building users, HOLISTIC can calibrate the optimal set point temperature based on real sensation. This can foster efficient management of energy flows at a broader level, integrating energy demand, generation and data/energy infrastructures, and providing demand side flexibility.

With a goal of entering the smart home emerging market, HOLISTIC is leveraging the experience gained from the “Data-Driven” Energy Management Solution to develop a smart cooling & heating control system for smart house applications—the HOLISTIC Energy Home System (EHS).

The EHS integrates low-cost smart controllers, connected in a local closed Wi-Fi network, operating under a customized software. This allows for smart cooling and heating control using IoT controllers and sensors, applying energy saving and efficiency scenarios using Real World Data. Georgia remarks, “When it comes to energy saving in the domestic buildings field, integrating real world data to your calculations is a real challenge that leads to complex and high-cost solutions.” With EHS, HOLISTIC aims to address these important issues and present to the smart home market a simple, lower-cost solution with high expansion capabilities.

HOLISTIC also maintains its Big Data Ocean platform, the largest maritime big data infrastructure that enables collaborative, data-driven intelligence. Big Data Ocean allows analytics based on diverse data resources, coming from public and private providers.

In the area of IT, HOLISTIC covers all aspects of information, communication, decision making, planning and forecasting needs of contemporary organizations in the public or private sector. The company also provides interoperability R&D services for administrations, businesses and research institutions in Greece and South-Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean region and Europe.
