Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) Introduces a Private Virtual Machine Computing System

Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) announced the launch of its 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors and the Intel Max Series CPUs and GPUs, alongside the launch of a virtual machine (VM) isolation solution and an independent trust verification service to help build the industry’s most comprehensive confidential computing portfolio.
FREMONT, CA: To create the industry's most comprehensive secret computing portfolio, Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) introduced its 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processors, the Intel Max Series CPUs and GPUs, as well as a virtual machine (VM) isolation solution and an independent trust verification service.
The trusted execution environment (TEE) that is isolated from the underlying hardware is the goal of Intel's VM isolation solution, Intel Trust Domain Extension (TDX), which is made to safeguard data kept within virtual machines (VMs). This means cloud service providers cannot access data processed by the TEE.

To assist businesses in determining the reliability of TEEs, devices, and roots of trust, the company also announced that Project Amber, its multi-cloud trust verification and software attestation service, will debut in the middle of 2023.
Intel aims to provide businesses with a set of solutions to secure data in storage, in transit, and at rest so they can create insights across on-premises, cloud, and edge settings while confirming the reliability of the hardware and software supplying those datasets.
Confidential Computing and the Software Supply Chain
The statement comes as more businesses struggle to strike a balance between data security and accessibility. According to studies, businesses only use 58 per cent of their data on average, in part because of difficulties implementing data access rules.
Organisations will be better able to trust in the integrity of software and insights in the cloud and at the network's edge by combining Intel's TDX VM-level protection with products like Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX), which uses application isolation technology to protect code and data in-use from modification.
According to Intel, this method offers many advantages over conventional attestation services.
Attestation provides cryptographic assurance that the TEE is legitimate, that its microcode patches comply with the updated policy, and that the TEE is appropriately launched using authenticated firmware.
Beyond that, SGX can check that the manifest supplied by the developer matches the application software loaded in that enclave. There is a mechanism to ensure that the app is exactly the one that the SGX developer described, even though the developer may not be connected to the cloud infrastructure.
The newest Intel products fall under the category of secret computing, which analysts predict will grow to USD 54 billion by 2026 as cloud and enterprise security initiatives try to meet the requirements of escalating data privacy laws.
Intel is making an effort to set itself apart from competing suppliers by using software attestation, even while companies like Google Cloud and Fortanix also provide their private computing solutions with data-in-use encryption, with the former supplying its own confidential VMs.
With its trust verification service, which is interoperable with cloud service providers like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and IBM Cloud, Intel has the potential to become the industry leader in confidential computing solutions that offer VM and application isolation.
